MES D.U. (Diesel United) has been a licensed Engine Builder for WinGD since 1948; the original agreement was signed between Harima Shipyard Co., Ltd. and Sulzer Brothers, Ltd., Switzerland. During the past 75 years, MES DU produced many world-first engine types. In 2015 MESDU installed a WinGD 6X72DF dual-fuel test engine. Carrying on the development cooperation agreement with WinGD, MES DU will continue to be a front runner for future technologies also after joining with Mitsui E&S Group since 1st of April 2023.

Throughout long history of technical challenge, we have been constantly required to achieve highly efficient engine performance, and optimization of combustion by long strokes and electronic control has been promoted. In recent years, diversification of fuels has been promoted in the direction of decarbonization. In such a surrounding environment, our mission is to deliver highly reliable products and services to our customers while taking on the challenge of new technologies.

DU-WinGD 2-Stroke Engines

As the two-stroke engine, DU-WinGD type diesel engines are running successfully as the prime mover of marine transportation, such as, large oil tankers, container ships, bulk carriers.

The RT-flex and X engines, applied presently, have common-rail systems with the electronic fuel injection control system and high operating flexibility to adapt to various engine running conditions and regulation of NOx emission. These type engines with the electronic control will be the main stream of the large two-stroke marine engine from now on.

Dual Fuel Engines (low-pressure and pre-mixed lean burn technology)

DU-WinGD 2-Stroke Engines

Driven by environmental awareness, IMO (International Management organization) determined to enhances emission regulations. The interest in gas as fuel for shipping is increasing to fulfill the rigid regulation.

We put confidently "X-DF"dual fuel engines adapted to pre-mixed learn burn technology into the marine market.
